Why These Books

I decided to go with a banned book/classic theme for this project. Most of these books we either read in high school or were supposed to. I know at that time I took advantage of Quizlet or SparkNotes for the books that bored me, such as the scarlett letter and great expectations, missing out on some important knowledge. As an adult, I recognize that all of these books have some lesson that, I personally believe all of us could learn from these books even now to ensure we dont make some of the mistakes as we continually grow. Most of these books from a surface level seem almost anti-American, which is not my goal. I believe these authors want Americans to be the best we can be or just good people in general by not only learning from history but taking a look inward as well.

If I had to say something about how these books had an effect on me, I would say they made me aware of the social climate we live in. These books don’t have anything to do with my career goals, but as I grew older I know they had an impact on me and the way I think. I chose the next 2 for my to-read list because they were books my family wanted me to read when I was younger, but I was too stubborn to do so. Now that I’m older I understand why they wanted me to read these and I intend to do so.
